2010 was a fantastic vintage in Piedmont and this has the makings of one of the finest ever releases from Poderi Colla

“This single-vineyard Barbaresco opens with classic Nebbiolo aromas of violet, rose, spice and berry. The palate shows bright cherry and white pepper flavours and notes of menthol and eucalyptus… should age wonderfully”

Barbaresco_Roncaglie2010 Barbaresco Roncaglie
This is the flagship wine of Poderi Colla and the epitome of “power and finesse”.  It is an Italian classic with wonderful texture, richness and depth of flavour.
Barbaresco is the famous near neighbour to Barolo in Piedmont. Equally fine, Barbaresco has all the power and richness but usually a hauntingly delicate character which makes it totally more-ish. Roncaglie is a leading estate and has been producing stunning wines for the last 20 years.
Barbaresco Tenuta Roncaglie is made from 100% Nebbiolo cultivated in Poderi Colla’s vineyards in the Roncaglie area. The vineyard was founded in 1993 by Tino and Federica Colla, brother and daughter of the legendary Beppe Colla. However, as early as 1880, Roncaglie was already recognised as one of the best and most important areas for Barbaresco production, and mentioned in Lorenzo Fantini’s important publication on Viticulture and Oenology in the Province of Cuneo.
The Colla family “make wine in the vineyard”, with a “non-interventionist approach”, enabling each parcel of vines to capture the expression of site and vintage. Tenuta Roncaglie is one of the best historically sited Barbaresco crus, producing a classic and elegant Nebbiolo.
In Italy this wine is classically matched with fine cuts of beef, or wild boar.  It goes very well with all red meats, game and casseroles.
