2015 Pinot Grigio Rosato ‘Terre di Monteforte’, Cantina di Monteforte, Veneto, Italy

Monteforte is a cooperative situated in the east of Soave, with 1200 hectares both inside and outside the Soave Classico zone where they have some of the best vineyards. Many of their vineyards – including Montegrande – are situated on hillsides facing south and south east, producing riper and fuller wines than many of their contemporaries.
The co-op has 600 members and harvests about 20,000 tonnes of grapes a year. Cool summer breezes blowing down the Alpone valley from the foothills of the Dolomites to the north give warm days and cool nights, which help with the accumulation of aromatic characters in the grapes.
Matt Thompson, renowned kiwi, winemaker and previous IWC ‘White Winemaker of the Year’ works with Gaetano Tobin to produce the coop’s wines.
The perfect partner to shellfish and goats cheese (although food is not required).
