Nick Adams MW of WineTrustWe catch up with our MW Nick Adams, who reveals which wines he has been drinking this month, perfect for enjoying at this time of year.

“Often my favourite time of the year there is still warmth in the sun, perhaps an Indian summer, but a chill to the nights, so more “savoury” wines come to mind.”

So without further a do, here are some personal recommendations. Try Nick’s food suggestions or match with your own seasonal favourites.

LA FLOR MALBEC PULENTA ESTATE 2014

By contrast – and thinking of the rugby at the moment – a more “front row” style but with some three quarter deftness. I love their Cabernet Franc (also on the list) but this benchmark medium bodied, blackberry and soft spice Mendoza Malbec is brimming with vitality.
Really punches above its weight (sorry now a boxing metaphor). Serve with lamb chops and rosemary, or a mushroom risotto.
£9.95

BARDOLINO CAVALCHINA 2014Untitled2

Yes back to the future – this old stalwart reminds you that not all red wines have to be big, alcoholic and tannic to be enjoyed. The near neighbour to Valpolicella this is light and delicate but bursting with cherry fruit.
Serve cool and enjoy with a mid week pasta with a tomato and sage sauce, or sausages and ratatouille.
£10.95

Let’s not forget the white wine!
When Sauvignon Blanc is this good it reminds you of how great a grape it can be. Less fashionable than its neighbour Sancerre it is just as fine and exhilarating and this is a top estate.
Bone dry, no oak and a lifted citric and mineral (chalky) quality – a weekend treat. Now the mussel season is here just ideal with these tasty bi-valves.
£16.00
