Previously hailed by Robert Parker, this wine now features in Decanter’s Austria 2017 Guide! An exquisite example of Austria’s flagship variety.

From a small 3.5 hectare vineyard comes this stunning Grüner Veltliner by one of Austria’s top producers, Schloss Gobelsberg. From Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate to Decanter’s Austria 2017 Guide, this wine has consistently stood out for its exuberant style, bold fruit and wonderful concentration. Refreshing acidity and mineral finish ties it all together – seamless.

Schloss_Gobelsburg _GV_Steinsetz2014 Schloss Gobelsburg, Grüner Veltliner, Ried Steinsetz, Kamptal Reserve
Wine making at this eminent estate spans nearly 900 years, to 1171 when Cistercian monks at the Zwettl monestry were granted their first vineyards. After centuries at the helm, the Zwettl monks handed responsibility over to Michael and Eva Mossbrugger, who have continued to build on the domaine’s rich history and venerable reputation.
Best enjoyed with food – ideal with any meaty white fish (pan fried with a lemon, parsley and butter sauce) or lemon and thyme roast chicken. Superb with a mixed plate of vegetable crudités and dips.

Spot on aperitif style of Austria’s home grown varietal – Grüner Veltliner – zesty, citric and very refreshing. Named after the Löess terraces, which are a classical feature of the Danube Valley. The lime soil element gives the Grüner Veltliner its classical structure of elegance and unique floral and citric character.

Another top example of this great grape – Austria’s other star varietal. Racy, citric and very fruity this is really appetising but bold enough for light food. This is a young vine selection (12-15 years old), with the emphasis on the pure varietal and fruity character of this noble grape
