Beaune-Bastion Premier Cru Domaine Chanson

France, Burgundy

This is a super little Beaune – with a subtle nose of forest fruits and dark chocolate leading onto a rich and creamy palate. There is a vibrant kernel of morello cherry fruit and a hint of lavender! Medium bodied, with dry, but gentle tannins, unobtrusive oak and a ripe, savoury finish.”

Producer

Maison Chanson is one of the oldest producers and Domaines in Burgundy, having been founded in 1750. For a time this great estate rather lost its way, but since its purchase by the prestigious Champagne house Bollinger in 1999 it has gone from strength to strength. They are a Beaune specialist with some of the largest and best Domaine holdings of any in this important appellation.

Food Match

Try with simply roasted red meats with their jus, especially lamb, along with duck, chicken and even mild game like Guinea Fowl. Despite what they say NOT a good partner to cheese and watch not make your sauces overly rich, Fine Burgundy can easily be overwhelmed.
