The fruit for this wine comes from vineyards in Luján de Cujo, Medrano and Rivadavia which have an altitude between 600-900m above sea level and are grown on poor rocky soil types, with little, or no top soil. The vines have an average age of over 50 years and yields are less than eight tonnes per hectare. Harvest is always done by hand with a double selection of both clusters and berries.
45% Malbec, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Bonarda and 5% Cabernet Franc.
Grapes are placed on drying racks outside the winery, where the naturally windy conditions dry the berries and concentrate the flavours and sugars. This is the same method used in Valpolicella for the production of the "Amarone" style. The crushed grapes are then cool pre soaked, prior to fermentation using native yeasts. The wine was then aged for 12 months in new French oak.
Drink now and over the next 5 years.
Renacer was founded in 2004 by Patricio Reich and is based in Perdriel in Luján de Cuyo. This wine was inspired following a visit by the Allegrini family (from Valpolicella) who saw both the potential of Mendoza and Bodegas Renacer to imitate the Amarone style - and therefore Enamore was first launched as a joint project.
The Estate runs a number of environmental initiatives to try and build sustainable production practices: Renacer is the first winery in Argentina to use solar energy, sources meltwater that naturally drains from the Andes and carefully monitors irrigation to ensure only the necessary amount of water is consumed.
Will work nicely with a lamb curry or Cajun spiced char grilled chicken. Also good with a Tagine of mixed vegetables such as butternut squash, peppers and onion.
Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
