The winery is outside the town of Canicattì, near the Valley of the Temples in southern Sicily. La Ferla refers to the fennel flower, which like the grapes flourish in this area. This is the natural home of Nero d’Avola, a variety that is regarded by many as Sicily’s finest red grape.
100% Nero d’Avola.
The grapes are vinified using traditional practices. The wine is aged for 3 months in steel tanks and a further 1 month in the bottle.
Drink now and over the next 18 months.
In 1969, over 480 vignerons came together - united by their love for the vineyards of Sicily - and pooled their efforts to form the CVA Canicattì. For over 40 years CVA Canicattì has been redefining the concept of viticultural quality, through important investments in the vineyard and winery. Part of their philosophy has been to focus on and promote the indigenous grape varieties of Sicily.
A great midweek red - a natural for that old favourite spaghetti Bolognese, or any pasta and red meat, or roasted vegetable sauce.
