Origin
The winery is outside the town of Canicattì, near the Valley of the Temples in southern Sicily. La Ferla refers to the fennel flower, which like the grapes flourish in this area. This is the natural home of Nero d’Avola, a variety that is regarded by many as Sicily’s finest red grape.
Producer
In 1969, over 480 vignerons came together – united by their love for the vineyards of Sicily – and pooled their efforts to form the CVA Canicattì. For over 40 years CVA Canicattì has been redefining the concept of viticultural quality, through important investments in the vineyard and winery. Part of their philosophy has been to focus on and promote the indigenous grape varieties of Sicily.

This wine was the reason I found the Wine Trust having drunk it in a restaurant. My wife rates this as her favourite red wine. Yes the Italian nature is obvious but it is very soft and full of fruit in comparison to many others. A very good value wine.

A modern Nero d’Avola with typical, fruity notes and nuances of black pepper; harmonious, well-balanced and pleasant tannins.
