Château Fleur Haut Gaussens is a family owned estate that crafts atypical quality boutique wines full of personality. Over the years, they have earned reputation thanks to the quality and consistency of their wines which do not stop thriving vintage after vintage. Since 1941, four generations of winegrowers succeed each others. Their cellar harmoniously combines tradition and modernism. Current winemaker, Hervè Lhuillier is one of the last Bordeaux Superieur still crafting wines meant to be cellared in the same manner as a Grand Cru!

The 2014 Chteau Fleur Haut Gaussens, based on 85% Merlot, has a light nose that needs more fruit. There is a touch of hardness on the entry, although the Malbec combines nicely with the Merlot toward the structured, licorice-tinged finish. This is a gutsy, broad-shouldered Merlot to drink over the next couple of years. Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate
