The 12 hectare estate is located at Saint Andelain on the right bank of the Loire. Kimmeridgian Marl and Villier Limestone constitute the local geology; it yields Pouilly Fumé wines with complex aromas which continue to develop.
100% Sauvignon Blanc.
Grapes are hand harvested and gently crushed in a pneumatic press. Cool fermented in stainless steel, this wine sees no oak but spends 6-8 months on its lees to add a rounded texture and weight.
Drink now and over the next 2 years.
The Chauveau family have run the estate for several generations. Since 2000, Benôit Chauveau and his wife Emmanuelle have been in charge. Total production is only about 7,500 cases. As Benôit says: “Our approach is to continually strive to improve the quality of our wines through the development of sustainable methods, reduced yields and caring for the land and vine."
You could enjoy this on its own, but pair up with any seafood, especially scallops for a treat. Also excellent with chicken and – for a surprise – with a classic Loire goats cheese and good bread.
