Monterrei is a Spanish Denominación de Origen for wine, situated just north of the Portuguese border. The cooling influence of the sea and extensive local river network is very conducive to the production of aromatic wine, with a tempered Mediterranean climate that one usually associates with Spain. Godello is a rediscovered variety that thrives in these conditions, realising its potential to make flavourful, distinctive wines while retaining the purity and freshness for which the region's more famous variety, Albariño, is known.
Aged on fine lees for 7 months.
Drink now and over the next 18 months.
Fraga do Corvo is produced by Grandes Pagos Gallegos. The Godello is crafted by talented winemaker José Manuel Martinez Juste, from vines over 20 years of age.
Really enjoyable on its own but plenty of fruit and acidity to go with fish dishes and other white meats in general.
