A truly luscious sweet wine from the island of Santorini

This is arguably the original Vinsanto – from Greece, not Italy!  Bold aromas of toffee with a luxurious, liquid caramel and raisin fruit palate.  Despite its richness however, there is a remarkable level of acidity and vitality making for a long, more-ish but above all balanced wine. Truly savoury!

2007 Santorini Vinsanto, Argyros Estate (50CL)

This medal winning wine comes from the Argyros Estate which was established in 1903 by Georgios Argyros.  Today, 4th generation Matthew is in charge of the 65 acres estate, on the glorious volcanic island of Santorini.
Made mainly from the local Assrytiko grapes, these are sun dried to concentrate both the sugars and fruit flavours.   The wine is then aged for 4 years in French oak casks.
Serve well-chilled, ideal with Autumn fruit puddings, classically apple and blackberry crumble.
