The results of this years’ prestigious 12th Annual Wines of Chile Awards have been released today and not only did the 2012 Casas del Bosque Syrah Gran Reserva win the Syrah trophy, it also lifted the prize as the overall champion wine “Best in Show”.
Over three days, 640 wines from 92 Chilean wineries were tasted. From these just 88 Gold Medals and 15 Trophies were awarded.
We have always rated this wine very highly at Winetrust100 and it has become a “must buy” wine for our list over that time. At £14 per bottle it is frankly a steal and represents outstanding value for money. A must for all Syrah/aka Shiraz lovers. It is tremendous to receive this high profile, independent endorsement.
Held this year in Brazil, the judges are some of the leading wine writers and sommeliers in South America.
Casas del Bosque was founded in 1993 by Juan Cuneo Solari and was one of the first wineries in the Casablanca Valley. Today the family still owns and manages it and were winners of the IWSC Chilean Wine Producer trophy in 2013 and 2014.
