Quady Winery Essensia

Andrew Quady Essensia Orange Muscat (Half bottle)

USA, California

Orange in colour, with orange aromas and orange fruit flavours! Really bold citric and stone fruit notes here and nicely (not overly) sweet, refreshing and balanced with no sense of heaviness. Sumptuous, hedonistic qualities about this wine – and genuinely individual. Super value.”

Vineyards are located in the central Joaquin Valley; its warm climate help Orange Muscat grapes develop a spicy orange-apricot flavour. Andrew Quady tries to capture this very essence in the wine, hence the name 'essensia'.

Grape Variety

100% Orange Muscat.

The Orange Muscat grape is named so because it produces an aroma reminiscent of orange blossom. Harvested grapes are crushed, chilled and macerated. Brief fermentation is arrested by the addition of neutral grape brandy, preserving the aroma of the fresh, ripe grapes. The wine is aged for about 3 months in used - mostly French oak - barrels.

Cellar Potential

Drink now and over the next 4 years.

The Quady winery is based near Fresno in California, and rarely one that specialises in the production solely of sweet, fortified and aperitif style wines. This wine's life began in 1980, when Andrew Quady discovered a small planting of the little known grape variety - that year's harvest grapes becoming the first 'Essensia'. Leaving his firework making career behind, his wine proved a dazzling showstopper in its own right, quickly gained popular appeal on the international stage.

Food Match

Serve well chilled with candied fruit puddings, chocolate (yes it does work!), fruit cakes or pastries for a real treat - or just sip after a good meal!

Suitable for vegetarians.
