The Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is a cool climate region in close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, the surrounding mountains funnelling sea breezes and frequent mists through the vineyards. Vines sit on well-draining gravelly soils of granite origin, with clay deposits on the lower reaches. Combined with different aspects, the family’s three vineyard sites yield a range of flavour profiles in the grapes – resulting in characterful and complex wines.

Grape Variety

100% Chardonnay.

Grapes are hand-harvested and cooled in special refrigeration facilities before sorting. Natural fermentation occurs with some Bâtonnage (lees stirring) followed by 11 months ageing in Burgundian oak (22% new) barriques.

Rounded, deep with a touch of acidity and salinity. A top quality Chardonnay.
