Les Levrons is a single vineyard - some 6.5 hectares in size - lying below the renowned Premier Cru of Les Referts, towards the Meursault side of the village of Puligny. The low yielding vines - pruned to leave a maximum of 8 buds per plant - helps to express the qualities of the terrior through the concentration of flavours.
Hand harvested grapes are sorted then pneumatically pressed. Once the must is settled, the juice is separated and fermented in French oak barrels, no more than 25% new.
Will keep for a good 6 years, but you don't have to wait till then!
Domaine Berthelemot is relatively young Domaine, having been formed in 2006, but with mature vineyards in classic appellations of Beaune, Pommard, Monthélie and Meursault. The new custodians, Brigitte Berthelemot and winemaker, Marc Cugney are passionate about the multitude of expressions the Burgundian terroir offers. The Domaine practises "agriculture raisonnée" - farming practiced under various ecological guidelines - for which it was certified in 2009.
This wine works well with roast and grilled poultry, it goes well with classic seafood dishes such as Dover Sole, with a butter based sauce, or more simply with a good, dressed crab.
Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
