Origin
Esclans the producer are set on a 'Magical Estate in the Heart of Provence' their location, the ancient Roman city of Frejus along the Mediterranean coast line!
The first known traces of the chateau date back to the time of the Gauls which could have been as far back as the 5th century BC. The location was used as a lookout to spot intruders from the sea.
The Chateau's cellar foundations are now known as the oldest in the region dating back to 1201, however the chateau standing there today was built during the 19th century.

In 2006 Chateau d'Esclans was aquired by Sacha Lichine, the property has 659 acres to its name and 183 total acres of vineyards. Esclans are primary growers of the Grenache and are known for their old Grenache vines which produce a much greater concentration of flavour, at the highest elevation on the site the vines are as old as 90 years. Esclans also grow Vermentino, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvedre, Tibouren and Merlot.
Food Match
Rock Angel Rose would pair very well with mediterranean dishes, chicken, pasta and creamy sauces. Light summer dishes and fish such as grilled salmon would also be the perfect combination.
