This Soave Classico stood out at a recent tasting, not least for offering superb value for money. Golden hued, well balanced with classic almond and honey notes. Delicious citrusy twist on the finish!”

Soave is situated in the heartland of Veneto; geographically it sits right next door to red compatriot Valpolicella, creating a gentle and friendly rivalry. Yields are low and the vines south facing, so plants can gain the most from the Italian sun and volcanic soils, ensuring production of the best fruit. These grapes are sourced from a single vineyard - Montegrande - about 250 metres above sea level with excellent exposure to those cool summer breezes from the Dolomites.

Grape Variety

100% Garganega.

The wine undergoes small-batch vinifaction. Fermented in small and large 15 hectolitre barrels, aged for one year prior to bottling.

Alcohol Percentage

Monteforte is a cooperative situated in the east of Soave, with 1200 hectares both inside and outside the Soave Classico zone. Many of their vineyards - including Montegrande - are situated on hillsides facing south and south east, producing riper and fuller wines than many of their contemporaries. Matt Thompson, renowned kiwi, winemaker and previous IWC 'White Winemaker of the Year' works with Gaetano Tobin to produce the coop's wines.

Food Match

Works very well with chicken, guinea fowl or pork corked in a richer, even cream, sauce.

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
